We just finished the first leg of our Winter tour-- a Thursday through Saturday run across the snowy Northeast. We started at the Brooklyn Bowl in NYC. The city was literally buried in snow, with cars and trucks slolemning down the streets bordered by 5-foot tall snowbanks. It was some white-knuckle driving, for sure. But we made it, and got down with some awesomely undeterred Brooklynites.
Next was the Thunderbird in Pittsburgh on Friday. I love this place. It's such a good buzz in there. Oh yeah... and it snowed all day. But, we still got down with some awesomely undeterred Yinzers. Finally, the Beachland Ballroom Tavern in Cleveland. Also small, but with a great vibe (and a home-cooked meal for the band!). Oh yeah.... and it snowed all day. But, we got down with still another group of awesomely undeterred folk. Cleveland rocks! That's all I got, for now. Next stop is Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo MI.... where it snows all the time. So, we've traversed the trickiness of The Holidays. We've vaulted over New Year's Eve. And, we have survived the doldrums of early January. It's time for 2011 to begin.
Actually, we in Lubriphonic had two great Chicago shows this Winter season. December 29 we had a fantastic time playing a show at the Metro with New Mastersounds (www.newmastersounds.com) for an Umphrey's after-party. Then, just about a week later, we had the honor of opening for Buddy Guy at his club (www.buddyguys.com) on January 7. Both shows made the frozen tundra just a little warmer. But it's time to leave home again. The Lubriphonic winter tour of 2011 will soon be underway. At the end of this month, we'll be playing Kalamazoo MI, Brooklyn NY, Pittsburgh PA, and Cleveland OH. Then, in February we will start in the Midwest and move to the warmer climes of the Southeast, ending on Feb. 26 at Tipitina's in New Orleans opening for Anders Osbourne and George Porter. Between January 21 and February 26, we will play 26 shows in 37 days, in 14 states. And I ain't even got into March yet. Check online (our site, facebook, myspace, etc...) for more details. We are coming to your town sometime in 2011 and we'd love to see you. Giles Lucky S.O.B.!
